Self Promo #5: Eco-Friendly

For my 5th self promo i decided to shoot an ad for Eco Tools, an organic line of makeup and brushes. I shot on a Phase 1 Mamiya digital back with a 120 mm macro lens.

Tearsheet: Feminine

For James in photographic illustration this week, we were to find a tearsheet we liked and try to recreate it. I chose a Tacori ad because of the lipstick. I could not find large colorful rings like i thought, and realized the lipstick in the ad was much taller than mine. But i still love the outcome.

Self Promo #4: Ciroc Red Berry

This is my 4th self promo, i decided to shoot an ad for Ciroc Vodka. I really wanted to shoot a high key vodka ad and Ciroc has the most lovely bottles. This particular flavor: Red Berry, has the flavors of raspberries and strawberries infused, hence the berries.

Self Promo #3: Modcloth Ad

This is my 3rd self promo, an accessory/fashion diptych. I decided to do it for the clothing site Modcloth, one of my personal favorite stores. I chose modcloth because they always use a wonderful, vintage look. Many thank yous to my model Rachel Reddy and my sister Taylor for the hair and makeup.

Self Promo #2: Powder Explosion

For my second self promo, i wanted to go with another beauty shot to match the first one. I really wanted to show off the vibrancy and density of this eyeshadow by NYX. My younger sister, Taylor, was kind enough to model for me.

Self Promo #1: Heavy Metal

Last week we were assigned to shoot two self promos. Self promos are shots that can be of anything we want, however we want, as long as we keep it commercial. Since i really want to shoot beauty products and fashion, i went with a nail polish ad. Using my favorite bottle of Sonia Kashuk metallic nail polish, i spent about 4 hours just shooting alone in the studio. I played with different angles, placement and patterns of poured nail polish. I settled on this shot, because it really showed off the product and was very clean.

Bokeh.

Bokeh is japanese for blur. It describes the aesthetic quality of the blur in the background of a photograph. This week we had to shoot a photo which showed bokeh. This was a very simple shoot and luckily my sister was nice enough to model for me late at night.
