Last week we were assigned to shoot two self promos. Self promos are shots that can be of anything we want, however we want, as long as we keep it commercial. Since i really want to shoot beauty products and fashion, i went with a nail polish ad. Using my favorite bottle of Sonia Kashuk metallic nail polish, i spent about 4 hours just shooting alone in the studio. I played with different angles, placement and patterns of poured nail polish. I settled on this shot, because it really showed off the product and was very clean.
The seamless backdrop and the high key mix of white and silver are very effective in this shot. I also agree with others that the random pools of nail polish make for a good design element.
